Description

Flotrack will be on-site for the 2009 Payton Jordan Cardinal Invite hosted by Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. Every year some of the best in the world come out to run FAST and this year will be no different.

From gostanford.com....

The 2009 Payton Jordan Cardinal InvitationalStanford will once again host the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational on Saturday, May 2, from Cobb Track and Angell Field. This year the meet will take on extra significance with the passing of Payton Jordan this past February. The former Stanford head coach and legend in the sport will be honored during the meet. The meet will once again be highlighted by the distance fields, which include some of the best athletes from around the nation and the world. The fields include collegiate as well as professional runners looking to run under the ideal conditions that Cobb track traditionally presents during a spring evening. Last season U.S. Olympian, Shalane Flanagan set the American Record in the women's 10,000 meters, which ranked at the top of several tremendous performances.

Flotrack, great coverage. I had tons of fun watching live and being part of the interviews at the end. So cool.

Keep up the good work.

Go to mogulus.com -- see if you can play any videos on that site. If you can't, you're missing Flash or some other essential browser component.

yeah 3 years ago

It's not displaying for me. I've tried with IE and Firefox. The live page has the videos, interviews, etc. down the left side, but the rest of the page is blank.

I completely disagree with the heat assignments for the 5000! What in the Hell are they trying to do - spread the entertainment value or something? Put all the damn big guns together in one frick'en race and make them run! That's the only way that the standards will improve and the benchmarks raised towards completing on a World Class level. Seems like everyone has their own selfish agenda; promoters, coaches, meet organizers and even the runners themselves. Get real, if you want to compete with Kenya and Ethiopia and not look like a bunch of pretentious clowns on some "B" level exercise, then the coupling of the best athletes in the nation needs to occur at every available opportunity. If these guys are so psychologically delicate that they cant deal with the pressure, then get the hell off the track!!! No more excuses!

I am excited to see Rebecca Donaghue race. She said she is going after the A Standard in one of her latest blog entries.

Should be a great race.

whoa Goucher is listed in the men's 10k... that's a bit of a surprise I haven't seen or heard of him running any races since that half marathon a year or two ago. I wonder if he's in race shape. Maybe he'll win one for Kara!

Men's 5k is straight up ridiculous. It's going to be Chelanga but I've got to pull for German. Nobody can touch Sam besides Galen and luckily this race seems to be for runner's without Nike Robot Altitude Houses...

The men's 5k is gonna be insane. Bolota, Scotty Bauhs, Chelanga, Coe, Cragg, Derrick, German, Puskedra, Tegenkamp, Vaughn.
