chris derrick is good but will never better german, german is a like haile and keninisa or pre in the fact that he controls races and isn't afraid to stay disciplined on his pace. it is nice to see this type of competition it will make both much better

big arms are fine for pushups but not for a race.
i'm giving derrick 70/30 odds over gf at fall nationals.
(WHERE IS DERRICK? HE'S A TOOL FOR NOT BEING IN THE RACE; RIGHT? THAT'S WHAT YOU GIRL'S WOULD HAVE SAID HAD HE BEEN IN THE RACE AND NOT GERMAN.
AND DIDN'T GERMAN "OWN" DERRICK AT THE US JR X-C NATIONALS AND ALSO THE WORLDS X-C CHAMPIONSHIPS THSI YEAR?
I DON'T REMEMBER READING ANYTHING FROM YOU ALL ABOUT THAT.)

German, LISTEN, in the fall cross country season DO NOT listen to coach Smith and run as a team. YOU are in a league of your own, run to place well for yourself, and Oklahoma State. Do your Thing!!

Chris Derrick: 14:07 behind 2 fellow collegians.
German Fernandez: 13:25 behind 4 PROS!

Derrick and German are both outstanding runners...at 18 years these two both break 13:30 for 5K...amazing. Big hopes for both these guys over the next 10-15 years. German definitely gets a lot of the press attention and has more hype...but he's deserving of it. What German did on the track his senior year warrants the attention. Derrick has been so steady at the National meets, but German goes out and wins the first NCAA race he finishes from the gun. We should all enjoy these guys in the years to come.

haha this kid gets all the hype... i.e. kevin, "i think this kid could win wire to wire, and go 13:15". haha. jager, barely mentioned and steals the show from german once again.

It's too bad CD wasn't in this race. I think at NCAA's he was in better than 13:25 shape. Either way, great accomplishments for both GF and CD this season.
