jjagermeister 3 years ago

Are you going to put up the mens 5k TV feed?

Ryan From Flotrack 3 years ago

Are you going to put up the 1500 meter finals?

Russ,

Buy a DVR.

It is things like this that are exactly the reason there will always be "pirating" and posting of videos or copies of TV broadcasts floating around the internet.
Where are the finals of the 2009 Nationals?
They are not here on flotrack, they are not to be found on NBC.com (anywhere), they are NOT posted on USATF.org regardless of what some may think so unless you taped them originally there is no way to view them which is exactly those three entities deserve all the attitude they get.
The rights holders are exactly that but the audience truly interested is so small compared to the total population...they, NBC in particular, should be worried about far more important broadcasts.

NBC's coverage was terrible. They only focused on a couple of athletes. Did not even mention that Alan Webb the current US mile record holder was out of the final in the 1500 m and cut to a commercial while Jenny Barringer made the decisive move of the women’s steeple chase and did not even have the decency to replay it. It is great to see Track and Field on TV but they need to hire Flotrack to do their commentary.

Why were my posts about the interviews deleted? I didn't say anything offensive.

where are the races that were broadcasted on tv? ive looked on usatf.org and couldnt find them.

kevind 3 years ago

You are correct, Mark. The media was given strict rules regarding the televised races and the archive status of each. We are just following those rules and wish to respect the rights-holders & USATF's guidelines. USATF.org does have the content posted for viewing, as see on TV.

Mark Krueger 3 years ago

Thanks Kevin. However, I do believe there are other sites who do have those TV races on their site.

lucy 3 years ago

Are they going to post the footage of the women's 800?

kevind 3 years ago

All the NBC / ESPN videos will be archived on USATF.org -- most should be there now in their races section. We (the internet in general), unfortunately, cannot post those b/c of the rights issues associated with each.

i would have ryan and mark over the boring nbc guys anyday

track is back baby!!!!!!!!!!!!

George (Pele) Medina Jr. 3 years ago

why are there no finals videos in most of the races?

Jason Izen 3 years ago

Prefer Flotrack commentary over cookie cutter tv commentary anyday

not journalists 3 years ago

they both have their strengths nbc gets mostly exclusivity without other interviewers around like flotrack in the tents--when they have one on ones the flotrack guys do a great job because they are also RUNNERS so the athletes and the flotrack guys can relate to each other--I'll listen to NBC cause they are their but I prefer the flotrack way
journalistic style is totally lacking .... talk about .... talk about

1500 vid? 3 years ago

Will yall be posting the video of the men's 1500m final? Or is it copyrighted to NBC???

MikeyB 3 years ago

will you have a video of the WOMENS 1500 meter final?

and the semi 800 womens..w/ Sara Vaugh?

Ryan Busby 3 years ago

are any of the junior races going to be posted?

Inquiring Minds 3 years ago

I agree, Anna Willard is over-hyped and Jenny B is consistently overlooked. How many times does she have to beat all the pros before she gets the spotlight??

and another thing about NBC 3 years ago

why the fascination with Anna willard, it was pretty obvious with her schedule this week Jenny was going to win the steeple--not to mention Jenny smoked her at pre andhad beaten her 4 of 6--is the hair color really that fascinating

nbc/flotrack it is what it is 3 years ago

Nate,

I meant the Flotrack guys should see how the professionals act in interviews. You don't see Bob or Dwight giggling and mumbling the way Ryan does. Even in broadcasting it probably woudn't hurt to have some coaching.

Nate Houle 3 years ago

The guys who do the interviews for Flotrack need to take a lesson from Bob Newmeyer on how to conduct an interview. They are always so awkward it's hard to watch.
The NBC announcers are complete idiots. Please Flotrack guys, never do anything that the NBC guys do unless you want to ruin yourselves.

Did the site shut it down today bc of NBC's coverage?
Yesterday's W1500 isn't posted and there haven't been any interviews. Wassup?

Chris 3 years ago

First off, I think this site is awesome and what these guys are doing is great for the sport. Now I'm no broadcaster I just think "ryan from flotrack" needs to work on being more polished and not acting star struck during interviews. It's good to act friendly towards the athletes but it seems he also doesn't ask tough questions either.

I think there is a professional courtesy not to ask too much about training, especially leading up to a big championship, because the athletes don't want to reveal what types of things they've accomplished in training to their opponents.

Mikel Thomas 3 years ago

I don't know where exactly I should put this comment but I feel like the chat shouldn't be there anymore. There are too many people who can't seem to handle the "responsibility" of not being a tool and spamming offensive and ignorant things during races.
