Steve Magness went to high school in Houston, TX. At Klein Oak high school he set one of the top prep mile times ever running 4:01.02 in 2003. This puts him in elite company and #7 all time for high schoolers. He then went on to run at Rice and the University of Houston. Magness currently trains with Scott Raczko's group in Virginia.

My initial comment wasn't a cut at Steve Magness at all. I know that he ran 4:01 in the mile several years ago in high school, has been struggling a bit with finding the right coaching fit and some injuries and just hasn't caught a break yet. I really respect the guy and love that he's keeping at it. I've had a quote of his on my wall for several years. I have run nowhere near 4:01 in the mile and never will. |

I messaged mark and ryan and asked them to think about it. Good quote matth a little highbrow for my common taste but then again youre smarter than me. Hopefully youll kick some butt tomorrow. Now im off to the anna willard post. Attorney David im talking about the right to face your accuser so back me up if necessary haha. |

Give the guy a break, I am sure the guy has his reasons on why he hasn't come to form since highschool. I am glad the guy has kept on dreaming and keeps going for it. Seriously though WTF is with some of you people? why does it matter to you if he has or hasn't improved. He is a good respectable guy that is trying to do the same thing as everyone here, but my guess is he is on a higher level then 95% of the people on here.Sorry for the slight correction, but he's not better than 95% of the people on this board, more like 99.99%! Yes, I'm serious. Do you think 1out of 100 people who frequent this board have run a mile as fast as him? |

I've wondered why he didn't keep improving after high school, but I don't have anything against the guy for it. It's weird how some of y'all take it personally that he hasn't improve as if him improving would somehow make up for the lack of y'alls talent. |

Attorney David

Hello Paul, Attorney David here. I agree and think you should push the issue with the site owners. I will be Attorney David from here on out. I will be honest, I can be a little stubborn when explaining a point, but I don't swear or do name calling. I think you'd be surprised to find out that alot of the negative/trouble making/instigating posts are made by a very small number of posters, the same ones! Believe me, for the majority of those type of posts, it's true. |

exactly you dont have to put your real name if you dont want but the very fact you have an account etc like peter said would make it better. |

PLEASE registration only for posting or else just dont have comments PLEASE.Yeah, this is something I have been thinking for a while now. Flotrack is great, and the comments are often interesting. But i would say that about 30% of all comments - nearly all of which are posted anonymously - are completely worthless/offensive/inappropriate etc. Unfortunately, most of the time anonymity does not seem to bring out the best in people. I don't think that required registration for commenting would hurt the site in any way, and I do think that it would prevent a lot of the garbage that shows up. I know that people still wouldn't have to use their real name, but just the fact that they would have to login and think about the junk they were about to post may make things a bit better. |

oh good more anonymous bashing. I know if i was an elite runner i would want to give an interview so that someone could make fun of me. At least put your name if youre going to criticize so that we can see how wonderful you are. PLEASE require registration to post on these comments or as it gets bigger it will just turn into the cesspool of letsrun all over again and then noone will want to get interviewed. I was going to write an essay about the anna willard ridiculousness but hopefully everyone will be spared that with this venting. I just dont understand the appeal of making fun of someone when youre arent man or woman enough to step up and say who you are. Its baffling and sad that apparently lots of people really think this way and let it out when they can do so under the cloak of internet anonymity. Look noone cares who paul hannsen is but at least by putting my name there is some sort of accountability for what i say. |
