Shalane Flanagan Workout - Episode #7
A few weeks ago Shalane Flanagan had her sights set on the 5k at the 2008 Olympic Trials.....that was before she became the American record holder in the 10k. With Eugene just over 3 weeks away, many people have thoughts about which event will be her strongest. Did you ever think about her doing both?
Either way, this workout done in Colorado Springs will show you that you need more than just intervals and miles to make it to the top.

Episode #14 - Dathan Ritzenhein, London Workout
The 2009 London Marathon will mark the fourth time Dathan has toed the line in a major marathon over the past 3 years. With an ever increasing fitness level for Ritz, Dathan and Brad have had plenty of time to tweak and analyze the buildup for Sunday. Coming off one of the best workouts Ritz has ever had in Eugene, we followed them on this fartlek workout 3 days later. To say the duo is excited to get back on the course racing is an understatement.
To watch our last workout filmed on this very same course, Lorane Highway, prior to a 2nd place finish at the '07 Olympic Marathon Trials in NYC, you can go here.
This workout was filmed on March 31, 2009 on one of Eugene's best training courses. With accurate kilometer marks spread over 10 miles of back country road, it provides an invaluable resource to runners looking to train. A 'hidden gem' of sorts within the greater Willamette Valley. Music credit goes to 'The Stills - Rooibos' and 'U2 - Magnificent'.

Kara Goucher Workout 20M Pre-Boston - Episode #13
Back in March, Flotrack was fortunate enough to ride along as Kara Goucher ran her final big workout prior to today's Boston Marathon. The 20-mile run took place five days after winning the Lisbon half marathon in Portugal.
The workout was meant to simulate the Boston Marathon. Kara alternated running on the track several miles and then onto the 1.75 mile loop around the Nike Campus.
Weather conditions were good despite light rain towards the end.
After the 20m run was finished, Kara did light work inside the pool, followed by an ice bath.
Pacers in this video were Arlan Bowman, a local runner in Beaverton who has paced the Oregon project for several years and Julius Achon a Ugandan middle distance runner who still owns the NCAA 800m record (1:44.5).
