After placing 3rd in the 5000 at the USATF's and winning the NCAA Cross Country Championships, Angela Bizarri heads into her final collegiate track season with hopes for consistency and improvement.

Bizarri is the defending champion in the NCAA 5000 and had a season's best of 15:33.02. Teamed with coach Jeremy Rasmussen, Bizarri has found a training formula that has reduced her injuries and developed her into a champion.

If anyone is critical of the interviewer, you are gone. This guy is horrible. Angela saves him. She is my new favorite geek. Seriously.

She's like a nerd fantasy.

It should be known that your energy is well placed.

It should be known that several comments that have been critical of the poor interviewer have been removed to make Mr. Selby appear more professional. Just want to make people aware.

Ok, but the majority of the school lies within the boundaries of the City of Urbana, not Champaign.

If the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) was called the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana it would be UICU and that just sounds weird. . . UICU actually sounds like a special intensive care unit.

Congrats to all of Angela's success...it's nice to see her representing the Ohio High School runners well!

I think that Selby did an awesome job, really like his questions and she is a very insightful person with a lot of good advice.

Thanks for the interview!

Everything that is wrong with our sport came out in this interview.

1. "I was suprised watching your victory on tv"
Although JB was obviously the favorite, if you made a list of 5 potential winners, Bizzari was on everyones list.
2, Nike along with all the running media thought that the 5000 last year was going to be a showdown between Shalane and Kara. IT WASN'T. Flanagan did not even run. Why would you possibly say "It was Flanagan and Goucher and then you"? That is dumb and proof of not knowing the sport.
So clearly you have every result of every race ever run memorized so that if you had given the interview then you would have known right? Stop being a Monday morning quarterback.

It was a great interview and good to hear about Angela's plans for 2010.

I admit my mistake in saying "Flanagan and Goucher." My apologies to Rhines.

I stand by my shock in watching the 2009 NCAA XC Championships. Barringer was the clear favorite, and nobody could have predicted the events of the second half of that race.

@ Horrible Interview:

I think that he is referring to the fact that going into the race it was believed she would be racing K. Goucher and Shalane. The question was directly related to the idea of preparation and how she goes about that leading into a race and the rest of her career. K. Goucher and Shalane are "out there" in terms of talent and she is trying to "close" that gap. It's possible you may be drawing connections that he wasn't intending be made.
Just my two cents, either way, I don't think that one detail makes the interview "terrible," by any means.

Horrible interview 2 years ago

And what about not knowing that Shalane did not run the 5k? And then spouting off that she did like it was a fact?

"I couldn't believe what i was watching" is the quote. I would imagine that was about Barringer/Kuijken, not the victory. Even if he did say that, she was on few top 2 lists.

Don't bash psychology. My roommate is a psych major, as is one of my teammates, and they are both very hard working.

That's because Angela is getting a serious degree and school is hard and running is hard as she stated. She's not majoring in psychology or some thing like that. She seems like a very disciplined hard working student. And humble.
