Chris Solinsky has carved his name, PERMANENTLY, into the lore of track and field. They will be talking about this amazing feat 20 years from now.

still puzzled..?? 2 years ago

if galen is such a good sport then why did he decline a flotrack interview?

observer 2 years ago

pdm5003, if you watch carefully, solinsky has no chance to go over to rupp. He basically gets mobbed and rupp goes to him.

Evan Jager is the funniest in this video

While Chris is my favorite, I will say, that as I watched the finish line play out, I was disappointed that he didnt walk over to Galen and shake HIS hand. he did the work after all. now that would have been class....

Amazing all around!

Here is proof that Galen indeed congratulated Chris with a hand shake.....if anything both probably felt a little unsure what to do or say? Galen should be proud of his effort, he will be fine, Chris has been the bridesmaid many times himself.

Oh Gowd, comments appreciated...Anonymous Coward if you would like to continue our discussion you're welcome to message me through Flotrack.

I failed to congratulate both Rupp and Solinsky, their efforts were phenomenal and they produced a great day for US distance running, way to go gentlemen!

Spoiler 2 years ago

Wasn't this supposed to be Rupp's coronation? No wonder he's miffed.

"If you know pre-race what is right to do sportsmanship wise it is not difficult to decide what to do post-race.
So when you are a talented athlete it's okay to be a bad sport? Galen may well have intended to congratulate Solinsky, so I am not condemning him, however I would like to point out the flaw in your comments. This is why this country is filled with cry babies and bad sports is b/c people like you find it acceptable for top notch athletes to act as THEY see fit rather than the right way. Regardless of how good someone is they still need to think about how their actions effect others. "With great power comes great responsibility" and in this case there is great power in being a talented athlete, then comes the responsibility of displaying good sportsmanship. Galen is certainly allowed to be frustrated about the outcome of the race, but that does not excuse him from doing the right thing in front of an entire nation watching, if he in fact snubbed Solinsky."

Alright, you go tell Galen rupp to his face that he was wrong to do what he did while you don't even know the facts. Who are you to critique him? You have no idea the trials he's put himself through, you're just another self righteous "jogger" who thinks he has a say in the professional world. You don't have to be a fan of him, but you should hold your comments until you know the true story.
How am I a cry baby? You are the one ing, I'm saying you should let him be on this issue since never in your life will you be able to put yourself in his shoes. And what is "the right way" to act? Who are you judge? You are the cry baby, and you are the pathetic one. Keep it to yourself Jogger.

Please don't let this place become letsrun! I can't even read the boards there anymore. They are filled with such immature drivel!

"if galen is such a good sport then why did he decline a flotrack interview?

galen didnt even want to congratulate chris, he walked off the track and someone told him to go back and shake chris's hand- thats the ONLY reason galen shook his hand in the first place(it was still a half @ssed hand shake). galen is a great runner, but when it comes to his sportsmanship, he has ALOT of room to improve!"
Don't be a b!itch. Galen Rupp is a great athlete and after a 10k that fast, it's hard to decide what is acceptable to do, and what isn't. He's not constantly thinking about pleasing douch3bags like you. Just relax, you'll never be the kind of athlete Galen is, so you'll never know what emotions he goes through.
Let it be.

Don't forget Bairu. Running a 27:23 and new Canadian record is great for him. Watch for his marathon debut this fall.

Man alive! Yeasssss!

Solinsky is the friggin' man. Rupp, too.
I am PUMPED!

rupp 2 years ago

also lost to chelenga tooo, someone who he dominated last year. i can see the frustration, im sure he congradulated him after. lets not make a big deal about it. he also shattered the american record, 2710 is rediculous. im sure rupp will get him back later on during the season.

Give Rupp a break, he shook Solinskys hand and all. I'm sure that after running 27:10 you would feel winded too and I bet money he had more congratulations for solinsky later.

Jerry Schumacher 2 years ago

Definitely not Salazar.

roflcopter 2 years ago

jeez o peats, give him a moment to catch his breath and I bet rupp bought solinsky a burr or two at the bars later to congratulate him.

Is Solinsky coached by Salazar?

well... 2 years ago

I can clearly see how tired Galen was. So i can understand if it took a while for him to shake hands with Solinsky.
