I think someone just ran 8:29 and 3:59 recently... Hmmm. I forget his name. But you're right; Anyan > Verzbicas, all day ;) |

It will be awesome to see how Joe and Jim do this year in track and XC. They've already got great times for high school runners so really anticipating what they can do this year. |

You NJ guys are something else. Its clear that Lukas had a bad race. People have bad races. Give the kid some credit. The pace early was a bit ambitious and he paid the price. I promise you the Rosas' are feeling a bit lucky to have beaten Lukas. They are in awe of him. |

Lukas was too y. Break 850 first before you try breaking a very good 2 mile record. Never underestimate Joe and Jim Rosa. |

Verzbicas would easily break 8:35 in the 2 mile next year if he fully committed to cross country and track all year round. And he still might do it even though he is likely to divide his time between swimming, biking, and running. Cross training is effective at giving your joints a break but it is no where near the same as running distance miles. These guys he's racing against are undergoing advanced running programs all year and have the advantage in that their leg muscles have more "training (running) miles" as well as "racing miles" under their belt. Verzbicas might be more talented but if great runners who are close to his talent level have more training and races in the running department then that clearly gives them the advantage as you saw in this race. Had he been consistently adhering solely to a running program he physiologically would have been able to hold the 4:17 per mile pace by himself. I still think he would have won if he had let the other runners hold pace but that clearly wasn't his goal. Obviously, he was going for the record and he broke himself. Rosas ran a smart tactical race in letting Verzbicas do all the work. From reading about and hearing interviews I don't think this hurts Verzbicas as he clearly is more passionate about triathlons, an event he knows African runners can't outclass him in. |

I wonder how Mr. Sweet would sound in an interview when he has a string of hs records and has ran a 14:18 5000 |

well lucas cheats on everyone that works hard. and he had the most over confident interview with flotrack about a month ago, about himself running in college and doing triathlon at the same time....losers"lucas cheats on everyone that works hard"... what the does that even mean? Lucas in no way cheats, I don't get why you keep saying that. And his interview was not that over confident. All he said was that he wants to continue with triathlons and that he thinks he can still be good at running with training for the other events. |

It seems apparent that maybe Lucas did not perhaps race enough this year. Super ambitious and gutsy to out at that pace, but knowing where your physically at and what you can sustain in a race, can only be measured in your mind against what you've already done earlier in the season. When he gets this right, the record could be his. |

Ok...So he's the age of all juniors in high school. So? He's still insanely fast for his age. He went for a record and didn't get it. Haven't you even had a race were you gave it everything you had and couldnt hold it and get passed by a lot of people? He's just like everyone else, just faster. Find something better to do then critize one of our brightest althletes cause he had a bad race. |

Lucas is a real nice kid. He's also an amazing runner. I don't understand why all of you idiots find a need to hate on the kid.. |

I stand corrected Ryan. Although you can't fully award the record to any one of them because of the hand timed on Hulst and 3200m on Ritz. All are impressive times. |

Like everyone else has pointed out, he's graduating a year early so he won't be 19 years old as a senior. He will graduate HS at 18 years old, is there something wrong with that? |

Call me an idiot

Yes, That is why he is Graduating early because he would be like 19 his senior year of track and correct me if im wrong but ihsa has a rule against that if your over 18 then your ineligible |

cuz he like 2 years older than his grade and he thinks he can take on germans record easy..that 417 showed how y he wasYou are an idiot. He would have been a year older but he decided to graduate a year early so he now is going into his senior year instead of junior (he is currently 17 just like every other junior), so you should get your facts straight before you make misinformed claims. And also I don't see why people would criticize him for going after German's reacord... He felt like he had a chance at it so he showed some guts and went for it; you aren't going to break every record you set out to beat on the first try. I give him a lot of credit and hopefully he can break it next year. |

If he stayed for his senior year he would probably break the 2 mile record or atleast the 3200m. and possibly break 4 in the mile |
