Kenta Bell has been one of the US's top triple jumpers for nearly a decade. He has made every US Outdoor World and Olympic team since 2001 and also placed in the top 3 at the IAAF World Athletics Final in 2003 and 2004. We had a great talk about the state of jumps, specifically the triple. We touched on where they are heading, what needs to happen to see improvement and reason why things have declined in recent years. Kenta is a great person with many ideas and it will take many athletes like Kenta to come forward with ideas and motivation to keep their events and track & field as whole alive. Check out Kenta's blog at kentabelltriplejump.blogspot.com, he keeps fans updated regularly about what he is doing and his travels while on the circuit.

I am a US female jumper who has been competitive on the elite level on/off for over 10 years. There is definitely a lack of funding, but most importantly a lack of knowledgeable, dedicated and humble coaches who are willing to commit themselves to the horizontal events, particularly men's and women's TJ. I strongly believe it's going to take people like myself and and Kenta Bell to step up after retiring from competition to give US men's and women's TJ the boost that it needs!

That was an excellent interview and I hope that you guys do more of the less popular events in the future.

This was a great interview. I believe there needs to be more funding to help develop more outstanding horizontal jumpers. Triple jump really does need help. There are not enough coaches who are skilled at teaching the jumps in the US. There is definitely a huge gap between triple jumpers in the US compared to other countries who do not have the resources like we do.

This guy is a great spokesperson for the horizontal jumps. Really great interview and explanations by Kenta.

I really loved this interview. As a distance runner who loves track, i have noticed that the jumps in the US are not as good as they used to be, and kenta did a really good job explaining why. Now i am much more informed about, I really hope you can make a difference kenta

Great, incisive analysis. Kenta stated the problem and the solution. Give him the forum and the funding.
