Wetmore's Olympic take
Colorado is no stranger to Olympic athletes. Coach Wetmore was not as impressed with performances from the Olympics as he was with the drug testing and lack of team tactics.
Wetmore on Walk-ons at Colorado
Walking on to a national championships caliber team is tough. There's always runners who want to run for Colorado, but Coach Wetmore just can't take them. He's a realist - these runners may not be able to run for the Buffaloes, but they could help other programs. He just hopes they're happy with their decision.
Shalaya Kipp, where she's been and when they saw greatness
A few years ago the name Shalaya Kipp would have been unknown virtually everyone. In a short amount of time coach Mark Wetmore has helped bring the 5:02 high school miler up as an NCAA Champion and US Olympian. Wetmore recalls her high school days when they recruited her and key points along the way that gave a glimpse at her potential. Kipp, the redshirt junior who started the season late due to the Olympic Games, is now rounding into form at the right time. She finished 2nd this past Friday at the Mountain Region and will look to garner her third consecutive NCAA All-American honors (40th as a frosh, 19th as a soph).
Mark Wetmore coaching fearless Americans
There may be a generational gap at Colorado, but not much has changed over the last two decades. Wetmore feels that the current crop of Americans are "fearless," but it's not just because they're brave. It's because they don't have anything to be afraid of in the world.
CU moving to Pac-12 & recruiting decisions
Changing conferences can be tough. Colorado was a distance heavy team in the Big 12, but now they're in the Pac 12. How do they change their recruiting or game plan heading into conference championships? One thing is for certain - the bus rides are a lot shorter.
