I've had years where we ran the short course because of heat. The problem is the kids have the most trouble at the top of the switchback hill, or one of the other hills. The Mt SAC staff is up there with everything they have. There's no crowd up there. The course is literally lined with people down on the airstrip. Coaches, parents, etc. so if someone goes down they won't even hit their second bounce before someone is there with water, ice, etc. Ya gotta get them down the hill to the medical tent from up top in the little green carts. They are quick in getting that done.
