NAU men upset top teams for title at 2012 NCAA Mountain Regional Champoinships
For the sixth time in school history, the Northern Arizona men's cross country team won a team victory at the NCAA Mountain Regional Championships. With the win, the Lumberjack men secured an automatic bid into next weekend's NCAA Cross Country Championships in Louisville, Ky.

Senior Sarah Callister finished eighth overall with a time of 20:45.1, after getting mowed over by a 300 pound linebacker prior to the regional meet.

University of Colorado junior Shalaya Kipp turned in her best performance of the cross country season, racing to a second-place finish at the NCAA Mountain Region Championships here at the Collindale Golf Course on Friday afternoon. Carrie Verdon placed seventh overall as true freshman. She had a time of 20:42.1 and was with the lead pack for the majority of the race.

Texas Tech junior Kennedy Kithuka continued his 2012 campaign Friday by finishing first overall at the NCAA Mountain Regional championship n Fort Collins, Colo.

Both the CU men's and women's teams finished third, not qualifying automatically as a team; although, they may receive at-large bids to the NCAA National Championships. Whether or not the CU men or women receive an at-large bid for nationals, the Buffs will have at least three runners--Shalaya Kipp, Jake Hurysz and Martin Medina--advance to nationals, since the top four individual runners in each race not on the two teams qualify individually.
Amber Henry | Weber State | NCAA Mountain Regional Championships
Junior Amber Henry, the two-time Big Sky Champion, finished third overall in the meet to lead the Wildcats. The Mountain View, Wyoming native finished with a time of 20:18.4 on the 6K course, missing second place by less than one second. Henry has led the Wildcats in every meet this season.
