The DMR is one of the most loved relays in the NCAA indoor season... but where does it go from there? If there is so much relay opportunity for the sprints (4x100 and 4x400) and major outdoor meets, why are the distance athletes getting shafted? Outdoor championship DMR, where are you!

They should switch the order to 1600, 400, 1200, 800. I think it would make it a lot more interesting. As someone said they usually just come down to who has the best miler.
That's a good idea. The two lapper at the end would make for a better spectator experience at the end too.

Good analysis as always. I think the world championships and Olympics definitely benefit from a DMR.

NCAA'S NEEDS A 4x800

Anonymous Coward 5 months ago

I hate the DMR. Way too much of it counts on the 1600 especially when it goes slow. I would prefer a 4 by 800 or a 4 by 1500.

Add the DMR to NCAA and NAIA outdoor championships.

I would love to see the DMR at all NCAA and NAIA outdoor championships. The problem is people want to see the fastest run in the DMRs. If this happens then you take people like Mike Berry, Bayer, Brady Gehret, Elijah Greer, Mudd, Finnerty, Patrick Casey out of their respective events to get the best DMR. Well, you wouldn't pull them out of their events, but they would have to focus on more than one event. Then again, they do it for the 4x4, 4x1 look at McQuay and Aaron Ernest who focus on their event but also the team. With all this said itd be tough to see the best of the best race each other for the ULTIMATE middle distance bragging rights, but I would LOVE for it to be added.
