Hey, indoor racing can be tight, you got to hold your ground, and maybe they had it coming, but the Gophers made a dicey move into the final leg of the 4x4.

She should've been DQed. It's not one way or the other. You have to have a clear path without impeding anyone else. She clearly cut her off to stop her forward progress and to basically take her place.

watch the 1983 Milrose Highschool Boys mile race. If you are in lane one and someone doesn't have one step on you before they move in, you can "push" them out.
I'm not sure if the rules have changed, but the race I mentioned is definitely one to watch concerning this matter.

thats how its run, the girl didn't mean to touch her, she had to do what she had to do at whatever time she though she had to make the right move

Matt D. 3 months ago

She should have Dairy Queen'd for sure

The Western Michigan runner could have given the Minnesota runner a good hip or back shove into into lane 2. If the

If you say DQ, you are correct. If you say no DQ, you are correct. It is YOUR opinion. The only opinion that counts is that of the meet officials. If 10 random people voted, there would not be 100% agreement. So the correct decision is the one that was made by the working meet officials. The end.

That's was fair , outdoor track mabe but seeing how small indoor track is it should be fair

3dq 4 months ago

get out of here its a dq fo show

#really? 4 months ago

that was def a DQ, how would you feel if someone cut you off and you had to readjust your stride... this isnt a 3000m, this is a sprint where every stride counts, you see when she passd her, 10m opened up, obviosly a DQ

TrackCoach 4 months ago

DQ? Perhaps on an outdoor track, but this is almost typical for indoor. Officials allow a certain amount of contact indoors, especially when no one breaks stride.

DQ and girl needs a lesson on track etiquitte.

Anonymous Coward 4 months ago

Peter day you are completly wrong. The outcome of the race does not change if a dq is imposed or not take the situation as you see it. The girl cut in far too early cutting the stride of the girl who rightly had the inside track

I would have spiked her

DQ for sure!

There's more pushing and rubbing in any European meet. However, the girl clearly cut in without giving the other girl enough room regardless if it's indoors or not. The same thing happened to me in a 2 mile race and I was DQ'd!

Anonymous Coward 4 months ago

Ok so lets be honest, running is running right? Why treat this any different than a distance race packed with runners, and of course elbows are thrown to create space and to not get boxed in. Honestly unless the Minnesota athlete did anything blatantly she does not deserve to be DQ'd. She just merely put the pressure on Michigan and got close to her so she can slow down to let her get ahead. Our sport needs this competitiveness. In the end its an understanding of each other and our desire to win. I feel like our sport is the only one that shows respect to one another because we know what its like to go through the physical and mental obstacles. I've seen some disrespectful/dirty running and this was pure fighting for your position. Crowd sounded like they were entertained.

cdalexc 4 months ago

Indoor is always tight and you slaYs have more elbows but that was bad. She leaned into the girl to cut her off. She should be dq'ed

Anonymous Coward 4 months ago

DQ the girl had to break her stride

contact race 4 months ago

just how indoor is run. That girl was going to keep her on the outside no matter what!

newfan 4 months ago

DQ . Is that the way anyone wants their runners to compete? There are rules about being a step ahead before cutting in for a reason.
