She should've been DQed. It's not one way or the other. You have to have a clear path without impeding anyone else. She clearly cut her off to stop her forward progress and to basically take her place.

If you say DQ, you are correct. If you say no DQ, you are correct. It is YOUR opinion. The only opinion that counts is that of the meet officials. If 10 random people voted, there would not be 100% agreement. So the correct decision is the one that was made by the working meet officials. The end.

The heavily repeated instruction we receive in the DIII meets I attend in Wisconsin is "You may cut into lane one as long as you don't interfere with another runner." Sometimes a suggested clearance length is given at about a stride and a half ahead. Either way, the person that is attempting to cut in and get to the rail has the responsibility of not interfering with other runners. She most definitely did interfere and the disqualification is valid.The only reason this is being questioned is because the Michigan runner backed off in order not to be tripped up. The lack of a crash seems to make some people believe it was legal. It wasn't. The Michigan runner was just making the best of a bad situation.Lesson of the day: If you take the risk to try and pass someone but can't get enough room by the curve, suck it up and live with your decision in lane two.

As seeing this a few times, I say this is not a DQ because she cut in after the first 200m, and this how idoor is ran, your gonna have to expect it in indoors and outdoors. Its way it is.
