i belive we have a very good blend of leaders this year. i personally think the quality i can bring to the team this year is relation. i can can relate to some of our rising juniors and sophmores on the team that are battling for that varsity spot this year because i was in the very same battle last summer. so i belive i can use this expirence to make sure others dont make the same mistake in training that i did. i belive i hurt the team last year by running to hard over the summer and not improving as much as i should. we had an instance with one of our runners during the 400s a couple days ago which brought an instant flashback to wen i was a rising sophmore last year. i will do my best to make sure he and others by their time and run the workouts they are given instead of trying to move up to quickly as i did.

I believe that becoming a leader requires honesty, respect for teamates, coaches, and opponents, dedication to the sport, and the commitment of being there for your team everyday and training for that optimal goal of success. Everyday I work hard as a leader to meet these key components. Since coming to the team, I know I have much to offer to my teamates. I will offer my knowledge from years of watching my brother run in highschool and from my own experiences. As Being one of the team leaders, I will offer motivation to my teamates to become better. I will put the team in the top of my priorities. I'll ecourage my teamates to follow the path that takes us to being successful not just as individuals, but as one team with the same goals and mindset for being the best that we can be.

I believe in one principle idea-respect. This can be for one's personal performance, body, team, school, family, friends, God, or practically anything else in life. I view one of my leadership strengths as one who can motivate and encourage others through the respect I offer. Although I appear to be a quieter member of the team, I feel that I have a good sense of what is appropriate, acceptable, or necessary for team interactions or functions to occur successfully, and that I additionally can speak up when I need to.

Discipline, I view, takes care of its self when all team members are respectful of each other, themselves, and the team goals. However, I believe I can enforce what needs to be done, when necessary. (I led a trumpet section in band last year about the same size as our team, and we turned out to be pretty successful.)

In one sentence, I believe I can, through respect, intrinsically motivate our team to reach its goals.
