BLACKSBURG -- Virginia Tech runner Tasmin Fanning won the 5,000 meters at a meet at the University of Oregon on Friday, but that wasn't the only reason it was an exciting day for her. She was congratulated by her favorite presidential candidate, Barack Obama.

Richarsdon wins state team title alone
AUSTIN, Texas -- Bonnie Richardson ran. She threw. She jumped. And when it was time to hand out the team trophies, Richardson accepted the 1A team championship for Rochelle High School -- by herself. Bonnie Richardson of Rochelle High School scored 42 team points to win the Texas 1A track title.

Brian Sell (Rochester Hills, Mich.) successfully defended his men's national title running 1:15:07 while Paige Higgins (Littleton, Colo.) won her first USA road title in 1:30:49, Saturday at the USA 25 km Championships in Grand Rapids, Mich.

This is an amazing story!!! We need more people and kids to hear about this one!!! ESPN- "Bonnie Richardson ran. She threw. She jumped. Richardson was the only Rochelle athlete to qualify for the state meet and stunningly won the team title. University Interscholastic League officials said it was the first time they can remember a single athlete winning a girls' team title."
