Liu Xiang prepping in America
Liu Xiang, the defending Olympic champion, world recordholder and China's best hope for a gold medal in track, won't be race weary at the Beijing Games in August. His only 110-meter hurdles races in the 2½ months before the Games will be Saturday's Reebok Grand Prix in New York and the Prefontaine Classic June 8 in Eugene, Ore. New head coach Pat Tyson doesn't think it will be too long before the Gonzaga University cross country and track and field programs will be off and running. Bulldog athletic director Mike Roth on Wednesday announced the hiring of the Spokane coaching legend to become the first fulltime cross country/track and field coach in the history of the program.
