9/2 Bolt, Powell run second-fastest 100, 200 at Athletissima Grand Prix - Asafa Powell equaled the second fastest time ever over 100 meters when he clocked 9.72 seconds at the Athletissima Grand Prix on Tuesday. Bolt cruised to victory over the 200 field in 19.63 seconds.

Earlier that same night at the Beijing Olympics, the U.S. men’s 400-meter relay team had done the exact same thing. Neither team would make it past the semifinal round.

Is a 5.0 Second 100 Meters Possible? How Fast Can a Human Ulitimately Run? - Weyand said that humans would soon have the ''ability to modify and greatly enhance muscle fibre strength.'' This is would actually reduce the difference between the muscle properties of humans and the world's fastest animal, the cheetah, to almost zero. 

Shalane Flanagain and the 2012 Olympic Marathon? - "...I can see myself running a marathon maybe in the next four years, only because I would want to test the waters for the next Olympics and consider the fact that that may be my event and why not test it out and see if that's what I should be doing in London in 2012."

Rockford native Dathan Ritzenhein finishes strong - "I thought I had a chance at a medal, and tried to put myself in it early," said Ritzenhein, who finished in 2:11.59. Ritzenhein saluted Wansiru for his incredible race. What's up next for Ritz? "We're going to Michigan to hang out with family," he said. Numbers add up to new event for Kara Goucher - Alberto Salazar saw a future champion in Kara Goucher after her 9th place finish in the Womens 5k Friday night. Except Salazar was referring to the marathon and believes these Olympic games were a big step in keying in on Kara's future. “She is a marathoner,” Alberto Salazar said. “No doubt about it.”

Bryan Clay's Family Returns Home from Beijing - The family of the world's greatest athlete returned home today fresh off an amazing trip to Beijing China. Decked in white Bryan Clay T-shirts, family members were all smiles Monday, still pinching themselves about their incredible olympic memories.
