Gebrselassie sets marathon record in Berlin
BERLIN, Sept 30 (Reuters) - Ethiopia's Haile Gebrselassie shattered a marathon world record on Sunday in Berlin that had been set four years ago by his great rival Paul Tergat of Kenya. Gebrselassie was clocked in an official time of two hours, four minutes and 26 seconds, eclipsing the previous mark of 2:04.55 his friend Tergat set on the same flat and fast Berlin course in 2003.

New Regional XC Rankings
NEW ORLEANS - After the first big competition weekend in the 2007 cross country season, several teams have started to solidify their rankings while three teams took over as their regions new No. 1. Duke, Minnesota, and Michigan State have moved into the top spots in their respective regions as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced the Division I women's cross country regional rankings today.

Track Town Halls Start Wednesday at Hayward

The 12th-ranked Notre Dame men's cross country team found success with returnees and freshman running together as they took the team title at the 52nd Notre Dame Invitational, beating out ninth-ranked North Carolina State Friday afternoon at the nine-hole Notre Dame Golf Course.
