ALL ACCESS: Magnolia Road and the Colorado Long Run
Flotrack takes an inside look at arguably the most historic run in all of NCAA Cross Country, Magnolia Road. The founder of this famous loop, coach Mark Wetmore, walks us through Mags and its history as the CU Buffs embark on another season filled with adversity and expectations. Check out what 18 miles at 6:00 pace feels like at 9,000 feet! Location: Magnolia Road (Starts in Nederland, CO) Elevation: 8,733 feet
This is my last visit. Send me an email if you guys ever go back to a free site and I'll come back. Advertisements don't bother me. The quality of your footage isn't worth paying for. It's shaky and the sound is usually horrible. Maybe you guys should buy some new equipment with your new money and provide a truly professional quality product. One that is worth paying for.
One reason I loved flotrack was because of all the amazing videos it put out. They are all conveniently located at the same place, all caught my attention, and were free. Now i can't even watch any of the videos I love since I am not a member of the new "Flotrack Pro" and will not be because I as a college student/athlete am broke and can not use money towards this.
I'll add my voice to many others that my support of flotrack is decreasing as you are trying to charge for watching the good stuff you always provided. Please revert back to the awesome work you did without caring what your pay check is. Let's be honest, most people who watch flotrack are student athletes and do you really think that I can afford another monthly fee. It's not like we are all on full ride scholarships or winning major road races to pay this fee. In all reality, I can do without flo track if it costs money.. I'll miss it, but not a need. I gotta pay for running shoes and food on the table...
Wow this sucks. This is the workout that I have been hoping they would upload and they make it flotrack pro? just put commercials on it or something
Off to Runnerspace.com I go. Good job flotrack, you just lost the support of a 3 time NCAA champ.
People are way overreacting. Mitch gave a perfectly reasonable explanation for what's going on. I mean come on guys, it's a long run, can't exactly have two versions of that. Even without WOWs at all this is still hands down the best site you can find for the sport. If you don't like it quit your ing and go to let's run.
This is the main issue I want to address (I wanted to quote the comment below this one, but sadly I can only quote one at a time). We had stated that there would be both a Flotrack Pro and free version of workout wednesday each week. Based on the footage, we decided that there wasn't enough quality to separate the two versions. We could have simply released this WOW for all users, but that would have been a diservice to our Flotrack Pro users who pay for premium content. It takes time, money, and effort to edit and curate all of the clips. Ryan had to edit this video and finished it at 6:30am (don't worry, he took a nap).In an effort to try and please everyone, we uploaded the majority of our interviews from the visit to CU along with the WOW. I realize that people are going to be upset and we understand, but given the cirstances, this was the best option for the week.We plan to continue releasing two versions of WOW on a weekly basis. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. You can still sign up for the free seven day trial to watch this video. The only thing I ask is that people stop calling my cell phone and calling me a sellout as my job is to write and look awkward in videos. Thanks!
Sorry flotrack, but this video actually has 0 views -- people are just visiting the page to express their sheer and utter disbelief that they now have to pay for WOW.
I guess it's time to switch over to letsrun.com. Maybe they'll start their own WOW videos and allow free viewing. You do understand that the majority of your business comes from a younger population, right? This is a generation that's been crafted around free usership, with websites like youtube and facebook. Do you honestly think they would be as popular if they started to charge a user fee? What's going to happen when your popularity drops and businesses no longer see your site as a viable option for their adverts? Do you suck up your pride and stick to a model which has been working thus far? Given the lack of popularity for competitive running in general (comparitively speaking) what you guys have been able to do with flotrack has been phenomenal. Do you honestly think people will actually pay to watch people run around on trails? This isn't football gents. A brilliant idea turned sour. At least I can say that I saw the rise and fall of flotrack.
What happened to making one video for flotrack pro and one less extensive video for free? Not cool.
I can only imagine that you're charging for content to pay for a settlement to one of the dozens of musical artists you've stolen music from over the last few years.
yea, I have been a fan for hand full of years...but, I'm done with this site. Good luck flo track
Lame, I like the idea of flotrack making money off of the coaching videos, but really? WOW? I've been loyal to flotrack since 2006. This is ridiculous. Apparently the guy you hired to make business decisions for flotrack has tunnel vision and doesn't know how to look from every economic standpoint. Your fan base is going to go down significantly for this and end up losing you more money than you gain. I will never pay just to watch other people run with some music thrown in the background.
What the? I thought there was gonna be a regular version of WOW videos! You can't do that for 2 of them, then just not post a regular version anymore! I understand you need to make money, but you can AT LEAST post the regular version of the WOW videos still!
"Flotrack Pro is supplemental to the site, and unpaid content for Flotrack will not diminish; it will actually increase because of the funds from Flotrack Pro." - http://www.flotrack.org/article/14435-Flotrack-ProYay for lying!
i agree...the coaching videos and stuff can cost money...but these videos are why we love flotrack...like some of these guys said we can't afford this along with the costs of college. May i suggest a flotrack store as an alternative...a store of specific flotrack running apparel. I guarantee a lot of people would be willing to buy shorts, shirts, or sweatshirts when they have the money to.
So did this change again? I thought we would be able to watch the basic workout without subscribing? Or does this not count as the WOW?
