On September 24, 2008, Padma Lakshmi asked:
How many miles did you run a week in HS?
My mileage in high school was pretty average. As a freshman I ran anywhere from 30 to 40 miles a week and every year I bumped it up slightly. When I was a senior in high school I was doing 50 to 60 miles a week with a 13 mile long run. If I was a high school athlete all over again I think I would do slightly more mileage because I think it would have helped me adapt to college running more quickly; however if I did that I may have become injured or mentally burnt out. So I think 50-60 miles is a safe bet, but if you feel mentally and physcially up for doing more I see no problem with running 70 or 80 miles a week in high school.
