Edward Cheserek
1st at 2013 NCAAs Five NCAA titles in his freshman year. Can anyone dethrone the King? We don't think so.
2
2
Maksim Korolev
3rd at 2013 NCAAs A breakout at NCAAs last season, Korolev's sporting a new uniform and excellent training partners that will help him finish at the top in 2014.

James Rosa
5th at 2013 NCAAs James (Jim) Rosa lead the Cardinals in 2013. He has plenty of company in 2014 and will again be at the top. His 28:57/All American finish in the 10k shows he is back after not competing in indoors.
4
4
Ben Saarel
8th at 2013 NCAAs Saarel had a stellar freshman year after his showing in Terre Haute. 3rd in the 3k, he 13:48 outdoors, oh and a 3:41 1500. His talent and hunger for another team title keeps him in the hunt for a top 5 position.

Joe Rosa
did not compete in 2013 Absent from 2013 xc, this Rosa impressed us on the track. 13:31/29:16 and multiple All American marks? These twins will be a deadly combo in the top 5 for the Cardinals in Terre Haute.

did not compete in 2013 Everybody was anxious to see how Jenkins would perform on the grass for the Ducks. But it never happened. It will this year, and we think his success on the track will translate to a quality showing in Terre Haute.

Futsum Zienasellassie
4th at 2013 NCAAs There's something in the water in Flagstaff. These boys know how to perform in the fall. Zienasellassie didn't do anything that impressed us during track season, but his experience still leads us to believe that he'll be a top performer in Terre Haute.

8
Anthony Rotich
19th at 2013 NCAAs Rotich was the surprise NCAA mile champion and followed with another steeplechase title. He didn't finish as high as expected in 2013, but all of those championships have got to propel him into the top 10 this season.
9
9
Patrick Tiernan
9th at 2013 NCAAs Last year, Tiernan was part of a special group of superstar freshman. Ninth place in the NCAA and the third freshman? He followed up with All American showings in both the indoor and outdoor 5k and will look for the same success this fall.
10
10
Stanley Kebenei
6th at 2013 NCAAs Kebenei will have to lead the usually stacked Arkansas team this year. He was runner-up in the steeple last year AND qualified in the 5k. It's not an easy double to complete, and we see him again as a top 10 performer.
11
11
Jake Hurysz
did not compete in 2013 Hurysz sat out last season as the Buffs took home the team title. That had to be a little frustrating. Which is why he will finish so much higher in 2014 from his 32nd place finish in 2012. Armed with arguably the best training partners in the nation, Hurysz won't miss out in 2014.
12
12
Scott Fauble
13th at 2013 NCAAs Fauble has been solid in xc throughout his career at Portland. His 28:43 from last spring isn't bad, either. Could he be better than 12th? Probably. But with three guys absent from last year's race, it'll be more challenging.
13
13
Mason Ferlic
22nd at 2013 NCAAs When Ferlic was a freshman he was one of the last finishers at NCAAs. The next year he went down with an injury. Last year he showed his true talent. An 8:38 steepled and USATF finalist in the event, he'll thrive under new head coach Kevin Sullivan and move up from last year's performance.
14
14
Morgan Pearson
17th at 2013 NCAAs Pearson was a dangerous member of the Buffaloes team championship in 2013. He ran 13:38 in the spring and should improve a few spots from last season.
15
15
Aaron Nelson
20th at 2013 NCAAs The Pac-12 champion in the steeple last season failed to make it to NCAAs in that event, but he'll be a top 15 performer in Terre Haute this fall. His 8:49/28:44 performances last season show improvement and we think his skills on the grass will reap the benefits of an excellent outdoor season.
16
16
Matt McElroy
25th at 2013 NCAAs A triathlete who excels in NCAA xc?! McElroy does just that. He was the Big Sky xc champion last year and pulled off 13:55/28:51 times last spring. The Lumberjacks will need him to move up if they want to make a run at a podium finish, and McElroy will be a key component for NAU.
17
17
Blake Theroux
23rd at 2013 NCAAs Theroux was third in at the Pac-12 conference last year and had very good indoor and outdoor seasons. His 3:45 speed will give him an advantage. Oh and his teammates that will be right along side him in the top 25 helps, too.
18
18
Trent Lusignan
12th at 2013 NCAAs Lusignan was a pleasant surprise in Terre Haute last year. He had top 20 finishes at Roy Griak and Pre-Nats, but was MIA during track season. Perhaps injured, we may have ranked him higher. Regardless, Lusignan should be All American again this year.
19
19
Craig Lutz
15th at 2013 NCAAs The top returning Longhorn will need to be healthy and fit to place in the top 25. His inconsistency is alarming, but he performs when it counts. He'll have to unleash the beast in Terre Haute to compete with those who haven't been riding a rocky road.
20
20
Tyler Byrne
29th at 2013 NCAAs Byrne is just what the Lumberjacks need. He fills the gap in their roster and was Louisville's star runner last season. Move a guy to Flagstaff with a great team and coach and you'll get results. We expect Byrne to be right in the mix in Terre Haute.
21
21
John Mascari
32nd at 2013 NCAAs Mascari is a bit of a dark horse this year. He won the Great Lakes regional last season and the NCAA east regional 10k. He proved he can win, and now he'll prove he can hang with the dominant schools and be a top 25 performer.
22
22
Sam Mcentee
27th at 2013 NCAAs Speedy McEntee will play a bigger role in the NCAA this season. He has been a bit shaky on the track, but this Austailian will make his mark as a major contributor to the Villanova team success. His 3:36 speed cannot and will not be forgotten.
23
23
Sean McGorty
161st at 2013 NCAAs McCorty had a disappointing NCAA performance in 2013. But we can't count out his fifth place Pre-Nats showing. After redshirting both track seasons, he ran 13:37 unattached this spring and will be a force for the Cardinals this fall.
24
24
Matt McClintock
37th at 2013 NCAAs A consistent Big Ten performer, McClintock just made All American honors in 2013. It's a big jump, but we think he'll establish his presence on the national level this season.
25
25
Blake Haney
2nd at 2013 NXN Some think it's impossible to predict how a freshman will perform in xc. But then you look at last season and see Cheserek, Saarel and Tiernan take three of the top 10 spots in Terre Haute. Haney has been in the spotlight for most of the past year and gets to train with Cheserek and Jenkins. If he keeps calm at the beginning of the season, Haney will be the top frosh in November.
