Saucony 2009 Spike Design Contest

It's that time again. Time to break out the crayons, pencils, finger paint, and photoshop. Saucony gave Flotrack a holler and had us come to their HQ just outside of Beantown in the midst of a blizzard to give us the lowdown on the 2nd Annual Spike Contest. Check out the video with Ryan and the characters from Saucony-ville, and start uploading your most funkadelic designs.

Here are the directions:
You can upload as many designs as you want, of either the sprint spike, the distance spike, or both. There will only be one winning design. The first two weeks will be the uploading period (3/9-3/22), and the last week will be the voting period (3/23-3/30). The winner will be announced on Monday, the 30th of March and have their design made by the folks at Saucony.

I don't like the ability to rank the shoes on a scale of 1-5. A lot of people appear to be giving me 1 star when I don't think the shoe I colored is bad. Also, since this contest is on flotrack, I think that you should have to be logged in to vote.

I'm kinda interested to see how Saucony pulls off the production of some of these shoes with the graphics pasted onto them. I wonder if they have that capability...maybe for a one-off they can swing it.

Why dont you shuffle the shoes around on the first page with shoes on other pages!? Makes it fair. People think these shoes on the right are the only shoes to vote from!

You probably saved it as the wrong file type. It has to be JPG, GIF or PNG.

Mediumwelldish - your best option is to use photoshop or another program that can open pdf files. you may also convert the pdf to an image file and edit that using any program (even MS Paint if you use Windows).

I recommend http://zamzar.com for file conversions. Just convert to a .png or .jpg.

I'm probably missing something obvious here, but I saved the template to my desktop and when I open it I just get a big picture of the spike. How do I get the color options to color it?

I like the velocity. It is way more comfortable to wear barefoot than the endorphin, but I guess each to his own

After browsing the Saucony site, What will Fam race the steeple in? Saucony doesn't seem to have a spike well suited to the steeplechase.
