Saucony XC BLOGS - Gabe Jennings

San Fransisco in the Mission, July 29, 2008

July 29, 2008

I have begun off training in the Mission district of San Francisco. The training includes playing recorder, xylophones, singing dancing; the approach is to teach music to kids, stemming from the core. I am beginning to integrate all of the components from this long journey of life. The fruits of my labor from Cuba, New york City, Brazil, Kenya, Eritrea, Belgium. . . are all seeming to make sense! Dance as plyometric meditation, running as performance, music as art. I am just one piece of the puzzle, but the gestalt is evident.

God Bless!

Keep at it Gabe. Like Allen, I was pulling for ya big time at the trials. And I loved your honesty in the interviews afterwards. You truly bring something original to the sport.

I was root'n for you big time at the Trials. The article in runner's world about your adventures was awesome. I hope that you still get a chance to inspire people like me with your racing. I remember when you and Stember went 1,2 at nationals that was my one and only good 1500 as well in school. You are a good omen for me and my running keep it up I really appreciate all that you offer the sport.

About Gabe Jennings

Gabe Jennings has always “run” to the beat of his own drum. After becoming an Olympic Trials 1500 meter champion in 2000, and representing the United States in Sydney, Gabe suddenly took a hiatus from the sport. Following, a 6,000 mile bike ride to South America, featuring many adventures, Gabe began a comeback in the sport in 2006. Supported by the shoe sponsor Saucony, Gabe’s return to the track has been very successful. In 2007 he finished 3rd in the US championships indoor mile, and most recently had a strong 2008 campaign where he won several Oregon twilight meets and made the finals of the Olympic Trials 1500 meter race. Gabe continues to be an elite middle distance runner and one of the most intriguing individuals in the sport.
