Hey everyone, I work at Saucony. I agree the DeMartini photo is the best all around, but the problem is that it wasn't his photo. It was taken from elsewhere on the web, so we gave him honorable mention for finding such a rad piece of work, but we didn't feel right giving him the crown. The rest were neck and neck with votes, and Jeannette came out on top, congrats to her. I hope that explains it a better.

At least there were some actually decent pictures up there this week.

Corey Spriggs   November 14, 2008 at 7:37pm
This photo contest is bogus! The photo by DeMartini is lightyears ahead of the the winner in my opinion. Anyone from the Flotrack commitee agree there is at least three to five better than that one?

Mud is true X. Anyone who has ran in rain, mud, hail or sub zero temperatures knows you gotta get dirty. That girl got a grass stain on her knees, if that.
reply
Kidding Me?   November 14, 2008 at 2:58pm
the kid in the mud is far and away the better picture. On a scale, the girl falling is a 1 and the mud is a 10. The girl falling isn't even a good picture to begin with while the mud is epic.
reply
Noway   November 14, 2008 at 1:52pm
sorry this is the most ridiculous thing on earth

HOW is a picture of a girl falling better than Daniel's??? Daniel, I think you have by far the best picture of EVERY week, not just this one.

Not that Jeannette's photo wasn't pretty cool, but what the heck..Daniel's photo is awesome and looks way more intense.

Passionate Runner   October 22, 2008 at 10:07pm
These competitions are for fun, don't put down other runners. H.D., you claim that 27 minute 8k runners don't deserve credit, a great base of the fans that visit flotrack aren't national calibur runners. People visit these types of sites to support their friends and peers, not disrespect them. I beg you to go and run a 5 mile race and see what kind of times you can produce. If you can run the 24:45 that you rate as being acceptable, good for you. If you can't, work harder just like all the rest of us are .. and hope that one day you can.
reply
H.D.   October 22, 2008 at 8:57am
to "Your Suck"-why would i ever give credit to 27 min 8K guys-you are implying that 27 mins for 8K is fast. News flash.....IT ISN'T. When the Etown top five are all under 24:45ish for 8K, not the ridiculous 7.5K that they sometimes run, then i will begin to give the team some credit. I will also give them credit for winning this unfair contest when they begin to let the flotrack nation decide the winners of this competition rather than only having their entire slow team vote on multiple computers. They took shortcuts to win this competition the last 5 weeks in a row with abysmal pictures-they will get no respect from me.

Rigged   October 21, 2008 at 10:36am
I'll go ahead and say it as anonymous. This contest is a joke, credit your only giving out shoes, but I think it should be based solely on site directors opinions. Though we haven't done this, my college team have came to the conlusion of how easy it would be to just log on to all the campus computer in 15 mins and over the course of a couple days have as many votes as we want. Which Elizabethtown is obviously on top of...

Isn't anyone ethical and moral anymore?
One week they accumulated 25 votes in 10 minutes towards the end of the contest

Liking Contest   October 21, 2008 at 9:52am
Especially liking that it is not drawn out over months....and that you post the previous winners. Week 7 winner photo looks like a real XC runner at the end of a rough course....not the cushy course that was shown in Indiana. (Your coverage was not cushy, but the course was....so I've been told. But maybe XC runners have so many awful courses that one cushy one is OK>)

no i like the pictures that have some interesting qualities. like the ones with monster hills, muddy courses, retro pics, or even that picture where the water is evaporating off of them. I am just saying those other pics are boring and generic.

how do you know they are from last year? I don't disagree with your idea, but the point is that even if the contest said only photos from this year, or week 1, people could still upload old photos. right?
