"So what's your guys' 1-5 spread like?"
"Oh, it was half a second. No biggie."
Looking around the country, I’m seeing standout performances here and there. Some were obvious, some not. In the West Crystal Reed (UC Santa Barbara) and Shannon Murakami (UCLA) with a 12th & 13th place. Alex Dunne (Stanford Frosh) 15th and Anna Sperry (BYU, now Az St) 18th. In the Mountain Region Katy Andrews (BYU) soph. 12th place. They were all Mt. SAC elite in their HS days. Top 20 in the West against Washington & Oregon is huge. And how about Jordan Hasay? 3rd in the PAC-10 & 2nd in the West Regional.
Other favorites, South Central’s Erin Bedell 3rd, and Nichole Jones 14th, both Baylor seniors. In the Great Lakes Region Lindsey Ferguson (ND) 3rd, and the Mid West was won by Angela Bizzarri (Illinois) with Kaitie Vanatta (frosh, Missouri) in 8th. The South had McKayla Plank in 8th (senior, Georgia), and it seemed like all day for the North East results, Shelby Greany (frosh, Providence) 2nd, Hannah Davidson (soph, Providence) 5th. The Mid Atlantic had New Yorker Liz Costello (Princeton) in 7th, and Mt SAC, Corona del Mar HS favorite Sarah Cummings (Princeton) 17th.
Glancing back at the World Track & Field Championships in Berlin last summer, the US won with 250 some odd points. Now you know where they all came from. NCAA XC and T & F.
