Yea altitude is all dependent on the runner, some can handle it and others can't. But I think what a lot of people forget about is the overwhelming mental aspect of running. With all the great physical training that we do as runners it is wasted if you don't have a brain/mentality that will utilize it. When we race, those of us who are very competitive will reach a point where it just hurts and yes the physical aspect of our training makes it so our legs and body can get through that without slowing us down a lot but if you don't have a "voice" in your head that tells you you can then your brain will say that this hurts and make your legs slow down. Running is at least 75% mental that is why i would really love to hear some of the mental training that the elite runners do, since attitude is everything in our sport.

I think that it depends on the athlete if altitude is the right choice or not. Some runners run get at altitude and thats good but you also have guys like Ritz and others who train at sea level now and we are seeing him in the best shape of his life.

It's great that he started a group for post collegiate guys. However, I would have to disagree that America%u2019s best distance runners grew up and live in altitude. Jack Daniels himself said "I%u2019m not convinced it%u2019s better at altitude".
