Cyclingdirt.org, which is our (Flocasts.com), Mountain Biking and Cyclocross site posted this video from a Cyclocross event. It reminded me of some epic steeplechase falls, but this one might take the cake, because of the massive air this guy gets. If you do not know what cyclocross is, you should check it out, because the sport of track and field could learn a lot from them. The events are a ton of fun, it is a party with racing going on.

I race with West Valley Track Club, whom is part of the Pacific Association in SF where we race track, cross, and road. What spectators, teams, & unattached can learn from us is the post party maddness. After all our races, we turn it into an event by drinking a lot of beer in the park or parking lot and have a good time.We invite everyone to come out to drink with us, bbq and socialize! |

Mark, I do like cyclocross, mountain bike racing and other extreme sports, but what is track and field supposed to learn from this? Should they insert pop up obstacles or how about figure 8 racing? Or maybe, start half the field in one direction around the track and the other half in the other direction. Not much to learn from the video, but the events are great and Track can learn a lot. |

In terms of Cyclo cross, they make an event like a party. They have a beer tent and sponsor, great announcers on site that are getting the crowd into and the racing has a lot of action. Hope that clarifies it. |
