Olympic Finals can be fast 3 days ago

The Beijing 1500m finals was won is 4 flat. I suspect that 2012 will show equally fast results (if not faster)

Jenny Simpson anyone 4 days ago

She won at worlds in a really slow time like all world championship or Olympic final. It won't matter if you can go under 4 in the finals. There are rounds and everyone runs slow in the final.

"Not necessarily. Nancy Langat, the defending Olympic champion has a PR of 4:00:23 whcih she set in the final in Beijing. Time does not guarantee a medals"

Regardless, with the top 3 american women currently running 4:05.9+, and already 7 world women running faster, plus 2 under 4:00, medals for the USA in the 1500 are very unlikely. Unless there is MUCH improvement. Like I said... work to do.

It will be Jenny B. Simpson and two others. Jenny always brings it when she needs to. Everyone else is a cr&p shoot.

''Top 3 at the Trials will just need to be sub 4:06. Now, on the world stage, forget it. The medals will all be sub 4:00, and with Dibaba running some 8 seconds faster than the best American time''

Top 3 at the Trials will just need to be sub 4:06. Now, on the world stage, forget it. The medals will all be sub 4:00, and with Dibaba running some 8 seconds faster than the best American time.... well...

They can do it 4 days ago

Pierce, Simpson, Rowbury and Uceny have the credentials to run sub 4 on paper. Pierce and Simpson have already done it. Rowbury and Uceny are a fraction of a second away. Hopefully they can pull it together on the track in 2012!

How fast will they need to run to place top 3 at the trials?

So, basically, if these ladies aren't ready to run sub 4....game over.

Rowbury's 4:05.99 looked good... for 24 hours. The Shanghai 1500m put 7 women under that mark, including Dibaba's winning time of 3:57.7 and second place Arigawe's 3:59.2

Lucky to be there 5 days ago

Interesting to see the different racing styles from the top 2 in this heat. Rowbury stayed relaxed and made a hard, steady surge with about a lap to go. Pierce didn't start her kick until about 200 to go.

Rowbury looked good after the race but Pierce was on all fours on the track and looked distressed after the race.

Rowbury is the silent killer. People forget how competitive she is. Glad she is back and healthy!
