Jenny Simpson is coming off the year of a World Champion with her 1500 win in Daegu but so far in 2012 she has only run her marque event once outdoors. Jenny checks in with Flotrack after running an 800, which wasn't her fastest but she went out harder than she has in any other race. Simpson talks about having the opportunity to watch the competition and how it plays into "studying" her event. She gives her insight on what it will take the make the US team this year and if she'll be focusing on anything outside of the 1500m. Jenny will run the 1500 at the Pre Classic in two weeks.

Always admired her running but this was the first interview with her that I really enjoyed. Very thoughtful and grounded. Thanks for the great interview Flotrack/Jenny

This was a good interview for JBS. And I have no doubt that she will, per usual, bring it when it matters. And that means at the trials. And I have no doubt that she will win the trials in the 1500. Watch for it!

this was a great interview from Jenny. I'm a fan of hers, to be sure, but she can sometimes lay on the BS and come off a little fake at times. but this interview seemed really honest. she seems like she doesn't have too much pressure on herself to make the 1500 team, which can only help. if she doesn't make it, it will probably be an insane race, so she'll have nothing to be ashamed of. Too bad the schedule doesn't allow for 1500 women to double back in the 5k, because some amazing runners are going to get left off the 1500 team.
