What's up with all the haters. Symmonds has run faster than Brother James Robinson. That puts him in with the elite of US 800 meters. As one of the comments below pointed out, he got sixth at worlds in 09. Not only that but he was a factor in the race. His nose was all in it. He's the real deal. Of course he's not in the same universe as Rudisha. So what? He'a stud. |

All three of our representatives are going to show up in South Korea. All three have proven that they can get through rounds -- whether tactical or fast. Robinson has won a Diamond League meet. Jock is going under 1:45 with consistency. And Symonds will just keep getting faster. It's going to be interesting to watch these guys run over here in Europe throughout July. Hopefully Andrews and Mulder get in the mix too -- too bad we cant send five people. |

Symmonds ran a great race and was ready for anything anybody in the field had to dish up! I feel he obviously had another gear even and could have dropped a 1:43 something if he had needed to. But ...... I can't help but think that Andrews last place finish was possibly deliberate on his part. Yea, he said that he was having, "An off day" but there's a strategy is preserving his strength and not peaking too soon in his career. The pressure now to make the Olympic team I'm sure is ever present in his mind, but if he starts going for it now and sets his training up to do so, he runs the risk of injury and burnout. Whereas Symmonds has nothing to lose. Go on now, tell me I'm full of it....... |
