For nearly two decades, individuals on Stanford men's team have taken pride in their respective parts of "The Machine". While many have functioned as part of The Machine, the 2011 team will be contributing to it as they attempt to win Stanford's first national title since 2003.

They've made some pretty serious coaching changes lately. Got that guy from Virginia a ways back and he seems to be working well with the team. They just got Patty Sue Plumer to coach the girls.

Ryan Hall was at the West Regionals with his folks. Brother Chad did very well. If you remember, Chad ran for Oregon in his freshman year then transferred to UC Riverside where he is a senior this year. We were out at the one mile/four mile marker giving Chad (and the Oregon runners) their splits. Sadly Sara wasn't there. She was in the Denver area visiting friends. I have to say, Ryan was light. Didn't have the big shoulders I'm used to seeing on him. That means he's fast. Looking forward to the Trials race.
