Ben Hubers and Andrew Poore made sure that day two of the Indiana Relays was just as exciting as day one. A day after teammate Andy Bayer paced the world in the mile, Hubers and Poore put the nation on notice that Indiana is loaded in the distance events. The Hoosiers finished the meet with 12 events won and a trio of NCAA automatic qualifying marks.
Hubers took the 5,000m in 13:44.93, the second fastest time in IU history and the second fastest in the world this season. Andrew Poore was right behind him in 13:45.33 for second. Poore is third in IU history and third in the world this year. Zach Mayhew was the fourth of four competitors to finish in under 14 minutes. Mayhew's time of 13:58.40 is the fourth-best in IU history and the world's fifth fastest.
Hubers broke Poore's track record from a year ago along with Mayhew became the fifth and sixth Hoosiers all-time under the 14-minute mark. Hubers and Poore are both under the NCAA auto standard of 13:47.00.
