someone below actually said he is not close to sub 8:30? for real? how about running a 4 min 1600m BEFORE the 32 and proceeding to break the national federation record for the 3200. any sane human should be able to understand running a fresh 3200m or two mile for that matter and he has a legit shot at breaking the 8:30 barrier. especially considering how he's carved his 32 times down this season WITHOUT running them FRESH. logic much? |

Fosho, I'm interested in what kind of drugs distance runners gain so much ground with. Sprinters and strength events yes. But cross-country runners and miler/two milers. I'm not really sold on that idea over the long term. This guys been ringing all the bells for the last two years. Would have been longer but he was injured prior to that. He's a high school student and waiters at Applebee's. I'm seeing a hard working, goal oriented kid who's been pulling the wagon for his team with 3-4 events per meet. Much like Kauren Tarver and Annie St Geme, they aren't shy about doing way more than anyone expects of them. There aren't any short cuts to German's accomplishments. Just hard work. |

let's see a german fernandez track workout! And while I would love to see him in the Pre 2 mile, I would say that the mile would be a better fit for his situation. He is on the cusp of sub 4 and there will be people to run with there, just like "that guy" wrote. Also, there will be other people around 8:50 at NON, just not in his category, but he obviously does not need people to run with judging by his solo efforts at state. If anyone can solo a 3200 on fresh legs under 8:30 while in high school, German can. |

Is everyone aware of the astounding high school times being run across the country? Check out Dyestat.com and Milesplit.com. The California meet is just the tip of the iceberg, this year we are going to ROCK the World Junior Championships, TRACK IS BACK!!! And you can see it all on Flotrack.com... |

There would be special significance to breaking the 4 minute barrier at the Prefontaine meet, it would be historic and he would gain national attention. I am quite honestly a little afraid of what he might do to the 2 mile record if he were to run it fresh...I'm still trying to get my mind around the double. |

I wanna see this guy shoot for sub-4:00. That would be incredibly amazing to see. |

I would rather see German stay in the two mile at the Pre Classic, rather than switch into the mile. He could definitely run well in both, but he definitely has a better shot at a national two mile record than the mile record. I could see why he would want to do each of them but I would rather see him race the duece. |
