Kosinski's coach Andy Powell was telling Alex from the sidelines to "stick with the plan" and the plan was to settle in behind the leaders and run the pace, then dust them at the end. As much as she really wanted to bust out of the pack and go, she did stick to the plan. Her final 600 Meters very much reminded me of her high school Golden West meet where she broke the federation record for the mile and came back again with a 2:07 800 later in the meet. That was the strongest I'd ever seen her in a track meet and this run appeared to be a mirror image of that 800 in her final kick.

don't think Kosinski ran that 5k by herself, as you said. coverage I read said she ran with the Texas AM girl until 600 to go. of course, Kosinski dusted her over that final 600.

what about 1 year ago

that 17 year old girl who ran 33 minutes for the 10k?
