I prefer it when the interview is not with just the camera and the athlete. This is the way it should be moving foward.

Thanks for your interest in our interviewing style and timing.

It is best to do interviews right after the race because athletes can be tough to track down, particularly at night. The interview could be better after a cool down, and the athlete has a moment to reflect on the effort. The reality is that athletes are missed if they are not spoken to before they leave the track.

You point is noted on the background noise.
I was thankful to have the luxury of a cameraman on Friday. I can ask better questions and focus on the athlete when I am not operating the camera. Sorry that you have to look at my mug next to the elites, but the interview is more conversational and natural in that format.

I always love the race coverage and interviews on FloTrack but just two questions.

1) It looks like this interview was done immediately after his 10k. Wouldn't he want to get a cooldown run in first, or at least put some dry clothes on?
2) Can you stage these interviews father away from the screaming crowds? Makes some of it really hard to hear.
Anyway, thanks for always bringing our favorite sport to us up close and personal!

i agree. the "flo" is way better with the interviewer in the shot. Also, i think the athlete is a little more forthcoming because he is in the middle of a real conversation, not talking to a camera. Good job Selby, keep moving track coverage forward

I actually like Selby in the video asking him questions. It's much more natural and conversational rather than having the camera shoved in Ritz's face.

Why is Selby the only Flotrack interviewer who gets in front of the camera? We want to see Ritz, not some guy asking him questions.

Really appreciate Selby (and most of the Flotrack interviews) where they've done their homework. What we need to positive and sophisticated coverage, and this is it.

You see, he has this special chip in his left butt cheek that sends out a signal to every coach, reporter, fan, organizer, etc.... Anytime he even thinks about running another race.
