The College at Brockport freshman (or sophomore, depending on how you look at it) Kelsey Conn finished 13th at the USATF Junior Nationals 5k on June 21st at The Ohio State University. Coming into the event, she was ranked 14th and placed slightly higher. As the only Division 3 runner in the race, she held her own through a 5:26 first mile, before a severe cramp forced her to slow her pace. Conn reports that "it took everything I had to stay in the race". She was only 11 seconds off her 5k PR and considering the early pace and her cramp, she ran impressively.
