In case someone didn't open the link above and read some benefits of water, #16 was it "improves your performance during exercise". I would like to add an interesting fact I learned in anatomy class. Being dehydrated can cause your hear rate to rise. For distance runners this is bad, because as your heart rate increases, so does your lactic acid production in muscles. Just in case you don'y know much about lactic acid, it's the stuff that is a byproduct of going beyond your anaerobic threshold (aka it causes that soreness and pain in your legs after running fast for a period of time). And it likes forming when your heart rate is at about 160 bpm or above.

On a side note, did you know that stretching is also helpful because it will spread out lactic acid when it is produced. This will prevent extreme pain in one particular area.

Thanky ou for that insight. I guess its just common knowledge. But surprisingly some people disregard this piece of common sense. The way you explained it gives alot of thought into the subject itself. Thanks.

By stretching do u mean static or dynamic stretching?
