Just got a text from Mark that David Torrence won the USATF Road Mile in 3:59!!!! $4k for the win + $10K for SUB 4!!!

Nice job DT, congrats. When I was in Cal for Payton Jordan last week Torrence told me he had been living off of $2,000 he had gotten in the fall (so for about the past 8 months!). I guess he'll be living like a king with this pay day, haha

Props to USATF putting on an event like this with an opportunity to win some money for these athletes, good to see.

**UPDATE: (10 mins after orginial post)
-online it says 4:00 (mark was looking at the clock when david crossed the line) so doesn't look like he'll get that extra 10k which is a bummer but still a victory and $4k in the pocket

***UPDATE #2:
Original post was correct, Brian below found the offical results!! 3:59.3!

I'm just happy someone ponied up and got under the 4 minute mark to get the extra 10k. It would have been a shame if no one got it. The more money that USA runners win the better! Who cares of so and so could have beaten him, they weren't there and they didn't, he deserves the cash.

He may not make the world team and he may not deserve a 50k contract or whatever but as of now he's won two US titles.

Anonymous Coward, you are such a freakin drag! Every time I'm on this site, I see some dumb-ass, know-it-all comment from you. Who wants to read that crap? Not me!

On a lighter note, it's fantastic to see Torrence grab the purse! Too bad Shannon missed it by a smidgin. Next time!

I can bet money that atleast two guys in the ncaa and about ten pros could have won the roadmile hands down. Puma wants young talent or a 3:50-mid, they'll hold their chips. Any deals given out right now will be for charity case and for everyone to stop whining about getting their crummy contract deals. Quit expecting to get paid in this sport, concentrate on running rediculously fast and then im sure puma will give you a call. Torrence living off of 2,000 someone said? thats rediculous, get a job, or did he major in liberal arts?
