#50 | CAQLa said: CAQLa, why are you trying to support a known DRUG CHEAT like Dieter Baumann ?? The fact that he tested Positive for Doping multiple times should tell you that his performances were Drug Enhanced, which make them all illegitimate. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/general/baumann-loses-another-appeal-in-doping-case-717227.htmlRegardless of evidence one way or the other, Dieter Baumann remains on lists as a 12:54.70 man at 5Km. The only LEGIT Non-African Sub 13minute 5k runners are Bob Kennedy, Craig Mottram and Dathan Ritzenhein...Dieter Baumann disgraced himself and does not deserve mention.....GO RITZ!!!!! |
#49 | Craig Mottram, rather? Buster Mottram played tennis. |
#48 | So great!!! Hey, Ryan, do you know whether Mark got to talk w/ Anna W. after her amazing 1500?? |
#47 | effing A. I am freakin jazzed. Dathan Freaking Ritzenhein! USA...USA...USA...USA |
#46 | tonight on Universal sports |
#45 | Here's the archived video off of Universal. The 5k starts about 2 hours and 6 minutes into it. http://www.universalsports.com/mediaPlayer/media.dbml?SPSID=105559&SPID=13055&DB_OEM_ID=23000&id=644818&sid=13055 |
#44 | Can’t think of anyone I’d rather see de-thrown King Kennedy than Ritz! |
#43 | Ryan From Flotrack said: Thanks, Ryan!just got word from Mark, he talked with dathan and will upload the interview soon |

#41 | I did say that Flotrack does more for U.S. distance running than any WEBSITE on the internet. I'm not saying Flotrack is more responsible than any one person, company, program, or other entity in the world. As far as the internet goes, Flotrack is building it up better than anyone. And Letsrun? Dyestat has done far more to set the bar higher for America's distancer runners than Letsrun, easily. |
#40 | I hope this keeps him away from the marathon for at least a year. |
#39 | While well intended, your statement is a little over the top. The biggest factor in he rise of US Distance running in the last 5 years, has been Nike's continued support. As for websites... The all have their place. Flotrack certainly does the best job of pre and post race interviews. However, I really don't think any website has really helped improve USA distance running, not even LR.com with the long threads with info from world class coaches. Running is such an individual sport. If there is one factor that has helped advance USA distance running...well just look how long Nike has stuck with it, funding as much as they do event wise, and all the clubs. Making it possible for runners to stay at it post college and make a living etc. |
#38 | CAQLa... what is your point? |
#37 | Regardless of evidence one way or the other, Dieter Baumann remains on lists as a 12:54.70 man at 5Km. |
#36 | You know what's amazing? I very strongly believe that American distance running would not be kicking a$$ so much right now without FLOTRACK. Flotrack has had a bigger effect on the surge over the past couple of years than a lot of people realize. No other T&F;website on the internet is doing more to improve American distance running right now. Mark, Ryan, and all the others behind the scenes of Flotrack really started something phenomenal. A decade from now we'll have Flotrack to thank for making American distance running the best in the world again. |
#35 | Ryan, will Flotrack be at Gateshead, Brussels Golden League, Decanation or World Athletic Finals? |
#34 | For American distance running fans, this is a "Usain WHO?" moment! Watching Dathan was running that final lap, 9.58 and 19.19 suddenly meant nothing to me... |
![]() #33 | That's sick!!! |

#24 | THAT IS F*$(ING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO RITZ!!! |
![]() #23 | congrats dathan! if rupp can run a time like this (he has the talent) then we could see a great 5k rivalry. |
#22 | Ritz is a fave of mine too. I, too, hope we can see these races with Ritz and Willard and the others. I want to know how to find the races too. I'm just an old guy still learning how to use the internet. I've seen many runners do well over shorter distances for about a year after being in top marathon shape. |
#21 | What a proformance by Ritz...I was screaming and cheering those last 3 laps!...amazing!...this will be talked about a long time! |
#20 | if he takes off another 20 second off his pr next race he will be the world record holder, should be easy. |
#19 | So incredibly happy for him. He deserves it. Way to go. |
#18 | Ritz shows the way to the other Americans that they too can bust big times. I don't care if his record only lasts a week......he proved to this crop of runners what guts is all about. I expect new barriers broken in the near future |
#17 | WOW, I did not see that coming! |
#16 | Where can we see these races! Dathan is a favorite of mine! |
#15 | What about Dieter Bauman's 5Km? |
#14 | Ritz is the frickin man!! I was shocked and jumping out of my seat in the last k!! |
#13 | jdflash said: It says the same thing that it did almost 50 years ago when Lydiard was training 800m runners that way!Patient and amazing run by Ritz, sick sick PR-he deserves it. What does this say about marathon training and coming back to the track and setting PR's? Congrats again. |
#12 | Dathan Ritzenhein 12:56 American Record 5000m!!!!! Wow....I'm shocked...I didn't expect any American Born runner to break 13 minutes 'til next year at the earliest...This is a HUGE breakthrough for Ritz AND American Distance Running across the board...Who will be America's next sub 13 minute 5k runner? Calling Rupp, Tegankamp, Solinsky, Jager, Fernandez, Derrick and Webb....Next up....The first American sub 27 minute 10K :) |
![]() #11 | ah i missed it! what was his time? |
#10 | massive performance by Ritz! Fantastic. Well done. U.S. distance running absolutely back on the map! (e.g. great run from Anna Willard as well). |
#9 | yaaaa!! ritz repersenting Michigan and the US for that!!! |
#8 | that was some proformance!....way to go RITZ! |
#7 | Patient and amazing run by Ritz, sick sick PR-he deserves it. What does this say about marathon training and coming back to the track and setting PR's? Congrats again. |
#6 | WOW!!!! What a race... That is what you call leaving it on the track....... Ritz you are the man....... |
#5 | an incredible run! he was at the back of the pack for the first 2km. unreal. i still have goosebumps! |
#4 | ritz is the man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
![]() #3 | ritz second fastest non-african in history (behind mottram) and new american record by 2 seconds!! |
#2 | RITZ! you rock man! |
