It would be awesome if she got back on the track. Maybe for a 10k against Shalane, that would be exciting!!

Deena is my inspiration. She is so kind, well spoken, and a perfect example of sportmanship / sportswomanship. She is a fierce competitor, and she will continue to have amazing performances. She set the bar for our other leading ladies, and inspires all different levels of runners.

12 steps, sir. I do not want you to be grossly misinformed.

And I was not trying to be mean. She is a pretty girl. However, she looks underweight to the point of not being healthy. I was merely expressing concern. Good luck to all.

Ya but her kind of "sickly" you can fix by gaining the weight back in the off-season. Yours on the other hand needs a nine-step program and it never really gets fixed does it? You can relaps every year for the rest of your life. It's as easy as climbing back in a bottle!

Deena the "Lioness". The way she races and competes simply draws my attention. Glad to see her doing well, after her injury. Hope to see her on the marathon podiums soon.

Deena was a contender for the Olympic gold when out of the blue she snapped her foot and had to ride home in the meat wagon. That is absolutely crushing. No need for comparisons.
To come back from that is of the highest difficulty, imo.
Deena's return to racing a massive accomplishment mentally and physically and to see her respond over and over to surges was inspirational.
Congrats to Deena and her team. Wow.

I'm reminded of Alex Kosinski's HS mid-year injury. She went down hard and sat out summer training and all of her senior year XC season. Alex finally surfaced at the SJS Section (California) championships, her first race of that season. She won it. On to the state championships, and the Foot Locker West, and the Foot Locker Nationals. The real surprise came when she went back east for the indoor mile, running against NON Champion Danielle Tauro and beating her. The rest of her senior year was even more exciting, and she signed with Oregon. I didn't have a clue of what she was doing to get ready for that XC Sectional race and was a little shocked to see how well prepared she was to win it so easily. Whatever she did for non-impact cross-training, it was amazing. I found the following story that explained much of it:

It was such an emotional letdown for Deena in China. Actually starting the Olympic Marathon and being forced to limp off the course with a serious injury. You're down in this big mental pit and you have to climb out of it, bad foot and all! But Deena and Alex are both championship stock, and these kind of stories demonstrate the bumpy road sometimes traveled to get to the top.

I hear ya on the cross training..I am just coming back after two herniated discs....ran one mile today, so out of shape I nearly puked..
Could have cross -trained, but only like running..everything else..I just can't do.
