it's funny how ppl have arguments on here about the science of running thinkin they have all the answers. first off he said he developed his training by working with her not based on a bunch of generalized stuff everyone thinks they know, and second she's talented so what if she's not out running high mileage she obviously doesn't need to, and i dont think anyone who isnt a fully credentialed coach has any grounds to criticize her coach or the training he has for her, he's a coach ur not, the fact that we run doesnt automatically mean we know what the best training is for every other runner |

She needs more mileage in her program. It doesn't have to be fast miles but she competing with other women who run a great many miles. She has a history of stress fractures. I get that. Slow down the miles, stay on soft surfaces but get her up to 40-45 mpw for a start. |

This chick is slow. She needs to change her training regime. I just watched her get dead last. She got dead last again at Monaco. That's what happens when you don't incorporate distance into your training regimine. |

Maggie's personality and demeanor are attractive, but nothing is more pleasing than to see someone succeed in their endeavors. I love to watch her run. What else matters? |

ironic that the coach says its easy for a fast 400 runner (which she is) to run a few seconds slower for a 400, yet she almost always goes out slower than almost everyone else in the race and has to try to run everyone else down in the last 200. And her success rate doing that is what???? not too good. what part of her training is addressing that??8/10 100s and a hard 300 seems like a really easy workout for a world class 800 runner and she complains about the wind???Regarding yr final comment............If u look again at the moment Vessey "complains" abt the wind, she was casting a knowing backward glance at the camera while doing it. She's obviously just playing with her coach by pretending to be looking for excuses to cancel the session rather than really wanting to quit. Its all just for fun and banter knowing that they're being caught on tape, and not a reflection of poor professional work ethic on her part as yr last statement seems to imply.............. |

I made the mistake of reading the comments before I watched this video. Geez you folks are negative and judgmental....which is easy to be when you can hide "behind the anonymity of the internet" as Love The music aptly points out. I love Flotrack's commitment to highlighting and celebrating the work and talent of North America's young runners, particularly in a society that seems to place very little value on the support and development of sports outside football, basketball, baseball, etc. I find it a crying shame that despite the myriad challenges faced by young runners, especially women, who are devoting themselves so thoroughly to the pursuit of excellence in our sport, people like you all are still so ready to belittle those goals and the journey towards seeing them realized. If you all think you're so much better, or have superior training plans that have led you to run the equivalent of a woman running a 1:57 800m, why don't you grow a pair and post your names? I think its pretty disgraceful that people are willing to share negative, even hurtful comments without accepting any responsibility for them. Shame. |

I truly love what Flotrack brings to track fans but sometimes feel so bad for these athletes. They take the time to put themselves out there, share their lives, workouts, their disappointments and successes and get so much negative feedback. I suppose that comes with the territory but it's sad to see the useless, mean spirited comments that people make behind the anonymity of the internet. Maybe these athletes should stop letting us in or Flotrack could do away with the comment section. |
