It seemed like only a few years ago it was rare to see multiple American women breaking 2:00 for 800 meters. So far during this "off year" we've seen two races with 4 American women break 2 in each (Pre and Lignano). With seven US women now under 2 in 2010, we'd like to introduce you to one of the newest sub-2 members. Molly Beckwith recently graduated from Indiana were she was runner up at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene. Beckwith came to Indiana as a scholarship athlete in soccer but after multiple knee surgeries decide to give up her first love and try track and field. In her 3rd competitive season Beckwith is making waves and will be one to look for over the next few years.

Thats a stupid distance runner's mentality. Good 800 runners arent twigs. Look at Johnson, Pierce, and Vessey. If anything, she should just be adding muscle. |
