It seemed like only a few years ago it was rare to see multiple American women breaking 2:00 for 800 meters. So far during this "off year" we've seen two races with 4 American women break 2 in each (Pre and Lignano). With seven US women now under 2 in 2010, we'd like to introduce you to one of the newest sub-2 members. Molly Beckwith recently graduated from Indiana were she was runner up at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene. Beckwith came to Indiana as a scholarship athlete in soccer but after multiple knee surgeries decide to give up her first love and try track and field. In her 3rd competitive season Beckwith is making waves and will be one to look for over the next few years.

Thats a stupid distance runner's mentality. Good 800 runners arent twigs. Look at Johnson, Pierce, and Vessey. If anything, she should just be adding muscle.

she could definately lose a couple lbs...not disgusting to say, its the truth if she wants to get faster

Beckwith is one for the other girls to watch out for. Huge upside.

Very classy well spoken athlete.
She seems much more grounded than Vessy.
What a stupid, insensitive, unclassy thing to say.

I think you ought to step up to the 1500 like you did indoors....You probably have those plans anyway...great job!

MAN that is crazy to be sub 2min 800m runner and have multiple knee surgeries! Keep excelling Molly and good luck in your transition from a great collegiate running career on into an excellent pro career.

Also what a Goal foreshadowing for her to break 2min's her next time on the track!

Ryan is so good at itnerviewing....great story!

isn't this story similar to Andy Wheatings?
How are her knees these days?
2nd in the 200 in HS (state championships...wow)
Does she have a 400 spilt in the relay or a 400 time somewhere?

She's very grounded and focused, especially for such a young athlete.
