Reebok's Morgan Uceny and Nike's Anna Pierce complete an endurance speed workout for some upcoming 1500/800 races during the second half of the european season. So far this season Pierce has run 1:58 for 800 meters while Uceny has made some big break throughs running 4:02 for 1500 and 1:59 in the 800. The two trained together briefly in Michigan before they both relocated in California with the Mammoth Track Club (Pierce making the move about a year before Morgan). The two will run the 1500 in Stockholm today in one of the most stacked fields of the year. Morgan will then run an 800 in Lucerne on the 9th and then again in London on the 13th. Anna's next race after Stockholm will be the Diamond League Meeting in London. Follow the Mammoth Track Club on the FloNetwork at mammothtrackclub.com.

Workout:
Anna - 3x400 (@55-56 secs)
Morgan - 2x400 (@54-55); 2x200 (easy first 120m, hard last 80m)
8 min rest between each interval

Why are so many Americans running flat footed?
Learn from the Ethiopians and Kenyans people....You can't generate the speed on a kick when you're flatfooted. It's ball to toe.

How can you say that? the only reason they fell is because the rabbit tried to finish the race instead of stepping off. This caused an enormous back up in the pack forcing the runners in the back to run up on the runners in the middle and front and uceny was pushed/tripped taking several runners with her. Don't criticize these fine athletes for something they cannot control

They both go and fall in the last 120 of the 1500 at zurich today... looking like straight dummies instead of reppin usa. i feel bad for morgan cuz she was in a good spot behind langat with 400 to go but then somehow got caught on the inside ( not smart ). oh well and pierce's ego is why she fell needed to be humbled!! at least rowbury finished but none of these girls are trying to win except for uciny...

Terrance is world class coach, and this a world class mid season session, both athletes are ready for big PB's...sub 1.57 and sub 3:58. hope they get the races to prove it!

yes, top female, world class athletes have 52-53 400m basic fitness, the secert is athletes ablity to close the last 100m in 13 seconds, off a fast pace race.

I could watch mid distance workouts every day - there are so many different workouts to choose from. Loved all the watches Mahon was carrying three different workouts going at once (is there a WOW with Rhines coming? - she was in the background).

On a sidenote... I would never put myself in a position where my wife would beat me let alone run me down from behind. He must REALLY LOVE her. Ha Ha!

This is all new stuff that I started using about 8 years ago. Before that we would jog a couple of laps and stretch on the lawn in a circle. This is state-of-the-art "dynamic stretching" and if you younger runners aren't using it do your homework! If you watch track on TV at all you've seen Anna and Morgan. Pay attention youngsters. This is school.
