Get to Know Andy Wheating

null

Andy Wheating has been riding the roller coaster the past 5 years and it very rarely has gone down. After a late start to running in high school, Wheating wasted no time making a name for himself as he ran 3:54 in the 1500 in his first season of track as a senior in 2006. Two years later he was representing the United States in the Beijing Olympics, running 1:45 for 800 meters! Skip ahead two more years as Wheating wins NCAA crowns at 800 and 1500, only the second athlete to do so, and less than two months later runs the #4 US All-time 1500 with a 3:30.9 (only behind Lagat, Maree, Webb) and lowers his 800 to 1:44. Oh yeah, don't forget his 3:51 mile at Pre. Its been a rare progression but one that running fans in the US are oozing at and wanting more. Get to know the new generation of US Mid-Distance running.....
