To The Core: Track & Field as a non-profit?

This episode of To The Core asks the question, can track and field survive as a non-profit sport? Track and field wants to get bigger, but with all of the successful sports out there they are about bringing in revenue. Can a major sport be run by a non-profit and volunteers? Events need to make money and athletes need to make money, but the governing body doesn't need to make money? That systems seems a bit off.
