This is exactly what track needs. This play by play is epic. Wait for the last line it might be the best line I have ever heard.

The final lap of a mile or 1500 meter race can be pretty exciting, but don't believe there is too many applications in track and field where his brand of announcing could be used. I'm an Oregon duck, and just the excitement of a great finish is enough to bring the Hayward field crowd to its feet with a deafening roar. I've heard it many times over the years. The finals for the 800 meters in the 2008 Olympic Trials is as exciting as it gets. Don't know about keeping the meets exciting for people when there is a lot of sitting on the hands with a ton of qualifying heats that can be pretty boring to the average person.

This is great announcing, but it just wouldn't work for track. Maybe the sprints, that is it. What is he going to be screaming about during the first 9k of a 10k?

"Oh my god! Look at Galen!!! Still on the same pace as the last THIRTEEN LAPS!! OH MY GOD HE DIDNT! He just turned left! HE TURNED LEFT"

I totally disagree!!!! Every race isnt going to be as exciting as Chris Solinski 10k, but there are stories that are unfolding in each and every race and there is no way in a championship with so much on the line that the announcing could be this engaging. All this guy is riding down a mountain by HIMSELF. No direct competition unfolding in front of him like Track. In track you can see someone Fade right before your eyes in relation to someone who is surging. The pressure of the lap before the bell lap is insane. it should be communicated by someone who knows and has PAsSIoN for the sport.

Look at the Jenny B World Championship run. That was unbelievable but you wouldnt know it from the lame announcing. If i didnt know better I would think it was a time trial to make the Varsity squad at Maine South High School.
