Amby Burfoot of Runner's World with insight from elite runner to journalist

null

On Friday before the 2011 ING New York City Marathon, Amby Burfoot of Runners World was awarded the George Hirsch Journalism Award. After receiving the honor we talked with Amby about transitioning from and elite athlete to a journalist and what it is like to bring the stories of elite runners to the masses. In 1968 Burfoot won the Boston Marathon after an 11 year drought of American victories. Amby's personal best of 2:14:28 was one second off the American record in 1968 and this year he will run his 49th consecutive Manchester Road Race. Thanks for all you've done and continue to do for the sport Amby!
