Flotrack's Best of 2011 - Biggest Surprise of the Year!
Race Video: The surprise of the year happened when Oregon redshirt Junior Matt Centrowitz Jr. took home the bronze medal at the 2011 World Championships in Daegu. Centro looked smooth through the rounds but no one really considered him a strong medal contender. However, Centro showed us just how good he is and how much of a threat he'll be come 2012!

I'll be the first to admit that I doubted Centro every step of the way. I was shocked to see him even make the team, and I never thought he'd hit the standard. I thought it was a fluke he made it out of the heats, and another shock the way he ran the semi. I doubted him every step of the way, but I couldn't be happier how bad he made me eat my words. His performance made me feel like such a chump, and made me a huge fan. He ran that race so strong, so smoothly, and so competitively, I'm sure he is no fluke, but is the real deal. Thanks Matt. You made America proud. |
