German Fernandez talks about final and rough road since freshman year at 2012 NCAA Outdoor Champs

null

German Fernandez has traveled a difficult path since winning the NCAA 1500 meter title as a freshman in 2009 with persistent achilles tendon injuries and trouble learning how to deal with the pressure of being the best. The issues cause German to even lose his love for the sport and push him to the verge of giving up this past January. German talks about these issues here along with making his last 1500 final and not having the gears to go after only running a short time. With graduation now behind him Fernandez will pursue a post-collegiate career outside of Oklahoma State. Things seem to be coming around for German and we are excited for the next phase in his career as he moves ahead healthy and positive. He'll next look to run an Olympic Games B standard in the 1500 (3:38.0) in the coming weeks.
